An Impressive Life: George Pointer’s Handwritten 1829 Petition

George Pointer’s nearly 200-year-old petition to the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal Company was to protest the canal’s construction path that threatened to flood his property and leave his family without a home. The document, now preserved at the National Archives, serves as a memoir of his impressive life. Download
