Historic Chevy Chase DC maintains a program of inviting speakers once or twice a year to address topics relevant to the neighborhood. These are open to the public and usually held in the Chevy Chase Community Center lounge or auditorium. In addition, we hold a popular Historic Walking Tour each September, led by HCCDC longtime advisory board member Keene Taylor Jr. Here is a list of our programs since 2013:
- May 12, 2020: In HCCDC’s first Zoom webinar, attended by 78 viewers, Carl Lankowski presented “A History of Your House,” a case study based on researching his home at 3506 McKinley St. NW. Chas Cadwell orchestrated the event, provided opening remarks and the Q-and-A at the end. A video recording can be viewed here on our website.
- June 20, 2019: “A Centennial Celebration,” a donor’s event hosted by HCCDC for historical society members and local officials. The gathering, which drew local luminaries and several past officers of HCCDC, was held at president Carl Lankowski’s 1919 home on McKinley Street NW on its 100th birthday.
